Dynamat Question

Whats up with all the different types of dynamat.
Is one application better for than the other depending on where it
will be mounted.

Im looking to dynamat my doors, trunk, rear deck, and floor.
does it matter which application of dynamat i use.
How effective is the Dynashield (spray on dynamat).

Thanks

Yes there are some types that are better for particular applications. Some, like foams, absorb noise. Others, like the vinyl polymer, aluminum foil layer, lead layer, or asphalt layer prevent noise from passing through. Some of the above mentioned combine both of the above. Generally absorbers, like foam such as carpet padding, do a better job with low frequencies. But the other materials will prevent sheet metal from vibrating as violently. If you absorb all of the sound, why have the stereo at all? So a combination is best. Ramm mat has proven to be as effective or better than Dynamat super. I buy a material from Lowes, roof flashing material with viscoelastic adhesive on one side, aluminum on the other. This material as far as I can tell is nearly, or exactly the same as both Ramm mat and Dynamat super. I paid 12.47 for 12.5 sq ft. I also like the cascade audio viscoelastic vinyl polymer material. And of course carpet padding, mattress pads, lead layer tape, aluminum layer tape, bondo, epoxy (and either of these two with silicone microspheres, bean bag beans, or #9 1/2 lead shot), plumbers putty, and I am sure there are a few other materials spread around my car.

hmmmmmm, i never though of putting extra padding under the carpet... Maybe i will pull the carpet, lay down some deadning material, lay down some extra padding and put the carpet back... Then do all the doors and trunk. Man that would be nice...

Yah, now you get it. Sweetsound knows exactly how much extra padding padding will fit without making the carpet bulge. He's done this entire procedure.
