Looking for a DVD unit..

Hey guys, need some help on deciding something. I am looking for a unit that plays dvds..preferably is double din, motorized, with pretty much the same features as the cd8455 costing around $750...can anyone give me some suggestions?

I couldn't find anything that was around the equivalence of the cd8455...

If I had to choose, I would at least want:
1. Time alignment
2. 9-10 band EQ
3. 3 way active setup capablilty
4. passive crossover adjustment
5. 5v preout
6. Mp3 and Sirius compatible

Thanks for any help!

There's no dvd units besides the alpine f1 setup that can do active with dvd.

Although not a fan, the W205/H701 can.

Thats exactly what it is, but I wouldnt call it "regular". The monitor connects via DVI/optical and control is through IONBUS. I also think it would be well beyond your means financially judging by what you posted above.

No, the processor is needed for what you want to do.

no worries...but it is great? is there a double din that I can add the processor too? I think not right? I wanted a navigation built in..rather then a dvd...much like the avn7000 has. Should i re-consider?

Uh what is he supposed to think about? You didn't post what item he should give you his opinion on....

If you really want a double din dvd audio unit get a d3 or a kenwood and add on a 3 way active crossover. That'll be your cheapest route.

isnt it 5.1 dolby digital SS...it does exactly what the avn7000 does when adding the processor with the sound. (minus the uber adjustability)...the 7band Eq makes no difference?

Would i be able to do the same thing with the eclipse navi unit? Or would i absolutely have to get a d3 or a kenwood. I really dont like the way the D3 looks because it just has an out of place know. Plus I would be more inclined to have something that has either a HDD navi or a double slot for cd/dvd like the eclipse? Just wondering..I REALLY need to sondier my options.

What 3 way crossover would i successfully intergrate into a kenwood or d3? Could i also do the same with the jvc-avx800?

Thanks for all the info and any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

No DVD audio from the eclipse. Any 3 way crossover, the crossover doesn't have to be brand specific to work, a standard remote, ground, and positive connection goes to it, and rca's for input then you use the outs of the 3way crossover to give the signal you want to your amps.

Dolby digital has absolutely nothing to do with active capability. The 'uber adjustability' is what you posted in the first post that you Do want. Preset Eq means no adjustment. Theres just different ones that are already set. No flexibility there.

Any crossover can work with any unit.

No DVD Audio from the Pioneer or Kenwood either, so that would be a moot point.

Not according to:

or

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...tailsComponent

Could be wrong here, but neither state it being available.

I've burnt and played a dvd mp3 disc on the d3 so for sure it does work on that. And from users that I've encountered the kenwoods do do it, however I don't know 100% and don't really care, lol.

Yep shame really...

JVC's apparently do DVD mp3 as well.

Yea I'm not quite sure, but alot of people taut the dvd mp3 feature as well. I mean hell. 800 - 1500 songs on one disc... pretty nice. I think DVD audio is just a higher quality output vs mp3/wavs.

dvd audio is not the same as dvd mp3 audio
The 04 TL when it first came out touted the DVD AUDIO player on it. I bet 99% of the owners don't own a single disc.

DVD audio will have the same # of tracks as an audio CD but recorded at the higher quality.

Have you tried a DVD audio CD in your car yet?
I have a Dave Matthews Band CD and on the other side it's a DVD video that is encoded with enhanced Stereo. It sounds REALLY good on the DVD side and it louder also. It's not DVD-audio though..but even then I heard a nice difference.

Any crossover can work with any unit.
so with would you recommend getting a jvc unit with the added 3 way crossover...I believe the dvd quality is much better ont he jvc for some reason. Above even eclipse, kenwood and alpine. I've actually seen the comparison in stores and jvc seems to have a great quality screen.

If i were to get a kenwood or a d3 or maybe even an eclipse..is this what i would hav to add onto it to make it 3 way active setup?

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-06-CLARION-M...QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks on any help

Edit: Irrelevant. Does the AVN6610 NOT have time alignment?

Edit again: 1 that that really drives me crazy is that...ever since i bought this cd8455 (org recommendation skiier) I just cant settle for ANYTHING less...sound quality wise... Bah...its impossible to find something at a reasonable price, with the same capability and still plays DVD...

Im looking at expanding my money's...i really want a unit..the thing is...it MUSt be 24bit, DVD, Sirius, Bluetooth compatible (only for the avn6610/5510 WTF?!??!) NAVI optional, and have all the same adjust ability of the cd8455 (time alignment, parametric EQ, and 3 way ACTIVE setup capability)...

Should i be looking at the D3, the w205, avn6610 or avn7000? Or possibly even looking at the kenwood xxv-05, d2, n2? really gotta find this unit...

Stick with the 8455 - run it active, and add on a dvd flip out screen. Problem solved.

You would probably have to go with a standard screen and add portable navi that has video and audio outs ...

As a side note, you can use the Alpine 701 processor with any head unit, if you get the external controller thingy. Then you could just send a toslink output from whatever HU you like into the processor and have all your active crossover, time alignment, Dolby Digital/DTS, etc.
