Need Bass, but don't want to change stock unit

Hey guys
i have a stock non bose unit on a 2002 maxima. the stock set up isn't cutting it anymore and i'm dying for a lil bump to my system.

I wish to keep the stock unit but not sure if i can add better speakers or even a sub to it. i'm completely new to car audio so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

What do you mean by stock unit? Stock radio/head unit? If you want to add aftermarket components (amps, subs, speakers, whatever) to your factory radio, PLEASE read the stickies.

If you want to keep your non-bose deck, you'd need a hi-lo converter or an amp that took high level inputs.

But the real question is why anyone in their right mind would want to keep their stock non-bose deck?

its obvious that i'm not in my right mind lol

well i was just looking for soemthing quick and hopefully easy but it looks like my best bet would be to swap out for a new HU and Speakers. i'll stop in at a circuit city and talk with the guy. the main thing that i wanted to keep was the steering wheel controls. hopefully they'll be able to save it.

Steering wheel controls can be used with most aftermarket decks. You need a PAC steering wheel control unit.
