Not sure the 5th gen maxima units will fit in the 4th gen. The later model Pathfinder HU will fit with some work on the brackets. There is a guy on here that sells take outs: KRRZ350

Im the next Albert Einstein but how can I go back to having the mental capacity of a 5-year old for the rest of my life?

If you enjoy wasting money going through a nightmare and ridiculous amount of work to downgrade, go for it.

With enough work you could probably make the 5th gen system (minus the head unit) work. Hope youre doing it DIY though because its going to cost hundreds and hundreds in labor otherwise.

Have fun. And don't take my sarcasm seriously...just that this thread is a little ridiculous.

No it won't fit without exensive modification, and the end result will be worse sound than what you already have. Why not just get some better equipment than what you have if you are yearning for something?

Also the 99 is the latest that will fit.

Trust me, I have a nice system, but theres just something about bose. My girl has a newer murano and her bose sytem sounds SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOD! I have a pioneer deck, jl components audiobahn rears, 2 phoenix gold amps, crossover and JL 12' sub and i still like the bose better. I guess im just getting over that huge bass, make my ears ring sound. I don't know. Thanks for the info though, appreciate it...

I wouldn't say the 05-06 Pathfinder HU (Panasonic) takes extensive modification. You have one jumper wire to install, a little grinding and drilling on the maxima bracket, and some welding if you are so inclined, and your done.

The 99 is seemless, but it's still the crappy clarion unit.

I do wonder why you would rip out an aftermarket system to go back to bose. I am uprgading mine to the Pathfinder unit, its cheap, and a lot better than the clarion, which was broken beyond repair (broken board in the CD).

The Bose (Clarion) am/fm/cassette/6-cd changer head unit from the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder fit nicely into my 96 Maxima. It is plug and play without any modifications. It does not have a flat faceplate like the original Bose but it looks nice. The sound quality IMO is much better than the original Bose system. The downside is it doesn't play MP3/WMA, though it does play burned CD-Rs. The 6-CD changer lets you randomly mix tracks between discs.

The lights also match the clock and the automatic temperature controller.
