Rainbow Audio
ok guys, looks like i'm gonna jump on the rainbow wagon (no homo). if you read my 5.1 thread you know i'm thinking. i'm considering running rainbow sl coaxials for the simple fact that i won't be using enough power for me to justify using the components i have or buying new ones. my theory is if a company makes great components (which you all swear they do and i believe you guys) the the coaxials should be decent too. any thoughts on this?
and since i love for everything to match, i'm also considering a rainbow sub. don't see much difference between the profi series and the vanadium, but since i'll be using so little power i figure which ever one is geared more towards sq (not a pro at reading specs). my next question would be how does it compare to an idq, which is the other sub i am considering.

Profi and Vanadium for the most part are one in the same but with obvious differences in cone material. Although if your going coaxials all the way around Im not so sure either of those subs would be that well matched. One will cost most than all 4 of your coaxials.
Profi/Vanadium > IDQ all day long.
Profi/Vanadium > IDQ all day long.

what do you think about the sl's? i know they're not going to stand up to comps, but are they a good coaxial? i like that the nominal power handling is close to the rms of the amp i will be using.
i'll probably do the idq for the sub.

to be honest, im running slc 365's on a kicker 70rms amp (so really geting like 60 watts) and they sound amazing. as long as you have 60 rms i think id go component. you dont want to cheep out on the most important part of your system (in my opinion the front stage speakers make or break your system). well unless your all about spl then you dissagree. if i were you, id jump on the GD don has going on.. unless its over already.. what was it 250 for the new slc's?

i was thinking about it, i don't know what to do. i mean if the coaxials are good whats the point? i don't know a whole lot about this 5.1 thing but it seems like the front stage isn't as important in a surround sound system. i guess it all depends on the quality of the coaxials, but i don't think a company would put out something bad in the same product line as something good. it's just a question of how much worse they are.

price isn't a huge issue, but this did make me think long enough to realize maybe i should grab some cdt coaxials. that way if i'm unhappy i can match the 6x9s with the components i already have. that way i'd only be out like $100. plus i don't think buying a brands coaxials will give me a fair first impression. hmmm...

I would second, third and fourth that. I agree 'sound' is subjective and nothing will please everyone all of the time, But there Profi Vanadiums, not the typical SLCs or the likes. Hell even Plats and Refs could sound not so up to par with a less than stellar install.

I don't even own any rainbow product anymore and I still recommend them to many friends and they never ever complain about them. They are thoroughly impressed and happy with the product selection and the sound / sound quality produced.
