soundproofing/deadning help
soundproofing/deadning help
i have a few options as my car is completely taken apart, not running, plenty of time to do stuff. i'm on a very limited budget for the next few monthes and i'd like to sound deaden my trunk as much as possible. my dad can get that expanding foam, but is that going to be good enough to stop the rattling? when my stereo is finished i'll have an MA audio 15" DVC (MA-W6-15) powered by an MA M680i. when my car was all in one piece, the bumper rattled like a barrel of monkeys getting thrown around by a 4 year old. at that time it was powered by a RF 250a2.
also, i am possibly recarpeting the trunk with white burbur home carpeting. would i need anything under this? i have 1 layer of rubberized undercoat on the bottom of the trunk. should i use another can of this on the lid and sides or just refoam the lid and use the expanding foam on the sides or refoam the lid and leave the sides.
i'm looking for suggestions for the cheapest and best way to soundproof. eventually i'll be doing everything (doors, headliner, possibly under the carpet) and id like suggestions for that too if at all possible.
thanks in advance.

I use and recommend Dynamat Xtreme. There are a few guys here on the org that use Rammatt that is supposedly better than Dynamat Xtreme. I personally have not heard it but it is cheaper than Dynamat. PM Sweetsound2001 and Whitemax for info on it.

He will get you a good price on it. Say youre from elitecaraudio forums. He is in San Diego and will ship it very fast. This stuff is IDENTICAL to dynamat extreme except you can buy it for 1/3 of what a Dynamat dealer pays for the Extreme. Visit my homepage for over a 100 pictures on sound deadening and directions.
