Ok i finished up the HU and speakers last week, threw in some fat mat(100sq ft to be exact) and now im still not happy. I guess like sex, the more you have the more you want. The infinity speakers are power hogs, so i want to add something just for those 4 speakers, something adequete but not a whole lotta money. I'm gonna have a friend that works at a custom audio place install a false floor in the trunk and use plexi and some light bars to show it off but keep it safe from all the paraphanalea in my trunk.

So in the world of Amps, whos who and what should i be looking for, or can you guys reccomend anything. Not looking to be force fed here but i see number for ohms and stuff and bridging and i dont have a clue what that all means.

An amp that does 35-50 x 4 rms would be good for your application. You don't need much but you definately need better than the HU can provide you. You also need the power to be 35-50 rms @ 4 ohms, other than that it boils down to brand preference etc.

 

Ok, just curious though, is it bad to go over that, like 100w rms? I found a Lanzar 1000w amp for $130 which is 125w RMS at 4ohm. Wasnt sure if this would blow the speakers or something. Then again if i can get away with just 50w im sure i can find a better amp for the same money.

 

Stay away from lanzar unless its the opti series.

More power is okay, as long as you properly set the gains.

 

My only advice is to be careful about buying something like an amp from online retailers or ebay. Many places will say they will warranty the item, but if the manufacturer doesn't list the online retailer as authorized, you will be SOL. Crutchfield is one of the few online retailers that is authorized.

Not online, my friend works for a custom sound place and gets everything at wholesale. Thats how i got the reference speakers at $115 when they retail for $250.
