Which speakers for my 96?
alright, so i wanna replace my crappy blown out stock speakers with some after market ones, and im not sure which ones to choose. i searched but couldnt come up with a definitive answer. I just bought this hu: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...684&tab=review
anyways my real question is what speakers, under $100 should i go for? keep in mind im probly not gonna be getting a sub. and what is the max mounting depth?
ive looked briefly at the infinity 6012i's, what do people think of these?
o yeah this is not a bose equiped car.

Infinity's are typically harsh, though the ref series is not as bad. I would look for something else. If budget is an issue a high sensitivity driver like a pioneer coax would be fine for your uses.

Does the non bose car have component speakers?
If you want comps - c/d/t comps. I forget the model number, but theres a set for $125 ( a bit over budget) that are friggin amazing.
if not, and you need coax, DEFINITELY go for Eclipse.

i thnk you can get them cheaper on ebay
great speakers. I installed them in a few cars. Noticable difference even with a factory HU. Great range. surprisingly good midbass/
alpine type R's are also pretty good. if you're not doing subs, I recommend the eclipse in front and alpine 2 way speakers in the rear. is it 6x9? the type R 6x9

are very bassy and do well if you dont want a sub.

I put in alpine type R's in my car I desided to go with the component set and mounted the tweeters on that black peice of blastic on the door which looks great. They sound amazing for what they are and they have a silk dome tweeter which is great for a full range of music especialy for hearing the instroment side of things. Now keep in mind the one thing thats wrong with our car is the speaker size. You cant get much if any base out of that size of a speaker. But trust me if you want to do it right put in components this way you will get the max amount of base you can out of the mid range speaker instead of having a tweeter on it hindering it. Not to mention how much better it sounds to have components. Now adays you could prob get them for around your price range too. If you are interested in hearing more or seeing what they look like installed let me know so I can post up some pics for you.
