Head unit compatiblity?
Head unit compatiblity?
I have a 95 GLE and my cd player stopped working in my HU. Ive searched but cant seem to find anything on compatiblity. Will a 97, 99, 01, etc. head unit work on my car? I have factory Bose and still want to retain the stock look.
95-99 will drop in.
Standard double din Pathfinder head units will work too, some of which are 6 disk mp3 decks, which are a somewhat popular swap for 4th genners. Although you will have to redrill the factory brackets for the Pathfinder head unit install.

Ive been searching for a specific thread and i cant find what im looking for. I am planning on replacing my Bose HU with an aftermarket one. When I do this install, what is the correct term for the replacement dash piece that you would install in place of the old piece (i.e. the stock HU is a certain size, the new cd player will be smaller than what was taken out, so wouldn't i need a replacement piece for this area). Also, is there anything out there better, or more appealing, than the run of the mill wal-mart/circuit city/whatever replacement piece.
I have seen some people make their own, but they also did their whole dash the same way. If that is the way to go...what do ya'll think? I see a ton of posts about replacing the HU, but i have yet to see anything about this.
Any help please?

Has anyone doing this swap, 05 Pathfinder HU into 4th gen, have a wiring diagram for the new HU? Any info on the pin-outs? I'm doing this swap but I get no sound. Probably no juice to the amps.
