in order to do the switch, you would need to cut the harness out of the avalon, and cut the harness out of your max. after cutting out both harnesses, you need to match up all the wires from the avalon to the wires for the max and splice them together. If you do end uop doing this, go to www.installdoctor.com and look up what each wire is in the avalon, and what each wire is in your max.

You dont have to cut the wires out of the max or the avalon if your not into that type of stuff. I recomend going to a circut city or a good stereo shop and getting a reverse plug for the toyota stereo and an install plug for the max I know metra makes them for sure.

A wire harness company scosch and aamp are others. they run about 15 each. If you cut wires rewiring when selling becomes another task. and for every rewire there is that much less wire to work with. I couldn't find metra's web site but here are the part #'s for Scoshe.

For avalon radio
TA02R
1987-Up Toyota Car Stereo Connector.

For nissan maximas
NN03
1995-Up Nissan Car Stereo Connector.

NN02
1982-94 Nissan Car Stereo Connector.

nissan antenna
NDA
Nissan Diversity Antenna Adapter

You can probally find these locally but here is Scose's contact info
Sales
800-363-4490, ext. 1
or e-mail sales@scosche.com
