Is one 10" enough?

Is one 10" enough?

I’m not looking to get blown away by the bass but I’m just looking for a little something extra. I’ll be installing a new HU soon and wanted to install the sub at the same time. I’ve had lots of combos of subs ranging from 3 12s, 2 12s, 2 10s, but I’m older now and don’t really listen to my music that loud anymore. The Bose system has been fine listening to the radio (cd player finally crapped out) but since I’ll be hooking up the iPod & possibly HD Radio, the sound quality will be better and I wanted to add that little extra. Right now I’m looking at getting a 10” JL Audio 10W1V2-4, with probably a Pioneer GM-7300M (250w x 1 @ 4ohms) in sealed box. All my subs have been JL in the past so I’m sort of brand loyal.

Is this just a waste or will this set up provide that nice little extra bump and a louder bump when I do crank it up? (Usually on a Friday on my way home before the first beer of the weekend)

Thanks.

I say go with one 10" kicker L7. that will give you some bass when you want it and you can just turn down the subwoofer level when you dont want it.

For what you want now, a 10" will suffice.

Great suggestion.

More power doesn't equate to more response.

I would say a 10" is plenty. Might I suggest Rainbow Vanadium?

I have a single 10" and it can get loud when needed.

Thanks guys. I may go the single 10" route or go to a DVD or GPS HU... I'm more confused now that when I started.

all i have to say is which ever speaker you do get just mate it with a good amp. i had a friend with a pair of kicker l7's and they had no match to my speakers because of the crappy amp he had pushing the subs.

Thanks. My mind changes everyday. At first I just wanted the double din HU w/ Bluetooth & iPod control, then I wanted the DVD w/out GPS, then I wanted the GPS w/out DVD… The GPS/DVD combo is more than I want to spend right now b/c I have to buy a fence for the yard. Too many damn options and variables. I think I’ll just get drunk tonight, print some pictures of what I want, and throw darts at them. Whichever one I hit… that’s the one I get. I can’t think of a better way.
