2004 max question

Is it possible to just add a subbwoofer or 2 to a factory bose stereo without nav. I just wanna add a tab more bass to the max. let me know if someone has done this or if it requires a lot more modification. or has someone replaced the factory bose subs or something ?

yes you can but you may need an amp to power the new subwoofers.

Most shops will tell you to replace all the speakers if installing custom subs with bose system, BUT there is a way to keep the stock bose speakers and connect custom subs & amp. It all depends on who's installing and how good they are. Don't fall for it if they to sell you new interior speakers... walk right out and keep searching for a shop that knows what they're doing. I did it with my old 92 Infiniti Q45... I added 2 JL 12's W7's with 1000/1 JL amp AND kept the interior speakers :-)

yes you can, what you need is a line output converter, which will give you the rca outputs you need to send signal to the amp. any good shop should be able to get it done

You could even do it yourself, very easy to do.

I had a question also want to install my box and amp and wanted to know can i buy this line output converter from a shop and install myself. I had my box in my previous 92 maxima with aftermarket headunit. Someone told me to tap on the rear subwoofer for rca juice. How can i install with factory system. I already know how to run the hot wire from the battery. Thanks in advance for the feedback

Should be able to buy a pac hi low converter from most audio stores. (circuit city/best buy). 2 wires from the pac go to one side of the speaker and 2 go to the other. Thats were you hook your rca's to your amp. You also need the ground ,power and remote wire for the amp.

I am actually very mechanilly and electrically inclined. I am an Acura master tech lol. and i have done extensive audio work in the pas. i just didnt know if i need anything special. I have not modified this car much but from what i8 get from the replies is that i need a signal line out converter so i can run rca's of the stock Head unit. but what about a remote wire if i need to run an aftermarket amp ? I was planning on keeping all door speakers stock and adding 2 12's and a amp. obviously i am going to need power, ground, remote wire and rcas. I get a converter from line out to rcas. but what about remote witre ? anyone ?

I would assume you could tap the remote wire to somethinmg in the fuse box.

i used the remote wire off the factory amp in the rear. converter with RCAs in the rear as well. only have power running to the front to the battery. i have the bose with 2- 8" stock. I added an Arc 10" and it's perfect.

Does anyone here that has done work to their 6th Gen Max, or done research have any reference threads or links to instructions/pics of those who have modified their factory control panel/faceplate? my 6 disc wont play any cds, and I am in the research stages anyways so I can get some new tech in my car. I have a guy that can work out all of the wiring and new speakers etc, I just need a starting point to get past that 1 piece factory faceplate.

Thanks!

I'm in the same situation (tapping a bose system with an aftermarket sub and amp). Can I splice the black sub out and the white sub out wires instead of messing with the speakers. These wires are in the bundle with the yellow, green/white, and the big black ground.
