with all the bass in the front, I can def see some accurate 10's completing the system. I'm also curious about this IB (in basement?) lol...

honestly, I think 8's in the front is enough for bass...how do you have money for all this Parag--two cars, different setups all the time, haha.

IB = Infinite Baffle or sometimes called inaccurately 'freeair'.

Free air? I hope I dont sound too ignorant when I say this (everyone prepare yourself): I always thought of free air as a sub that does not require a box. For example, the 5th gens have an option for an 8" sub in the rear deck that just mounts back there without a box. Are you trying to do a similar setup with this? If so, how much custom work is needed to fit a 10" in the rear deck? What does the Altima SE-R come with stock back there?

What are the benefits of a free air sub vs a sub in a box? First thoughts say you can use your entire trunk as a box which would be bigger than any box you can fit in the trunk aka deeper bass...hopefully Im not getting ahead of myself here...

Not ignorant at all. It is a fair question.

Yes it uses the trunk as the 'enclosure'. It does require a bit of work, but payout can be great. Virtually no space taken and requires little power. However unless Very well planned out and implemented this would not work very well for the 'boomers'.

No space taken is a huge plus and I can imagine the bass being much stronger with all that space used. But if you dont have a stock hole to begin with, sounds like a lot of work....nothing too difficult for Don *ahem*

They are in right now lol They dont' sound bad, but with the 8's up front need more authority. These Exodus Audio DPL-10's should fit the bill pretty well.

Yep, price was good, should be a good way to get my 10" IB feet wet.

I didn't have to do much custom work for 8's. Don and I did the first rendition with a little cutting, mdf rings and it was good to go. This will be similar but for the 10's I'll have to lose the torsion bars and use hood struts.

Dont you mean trunk struts?
This looks and sounds like a hot idea. Hopefully on my next car, there is some type of opening back there for it.

I can see more authority being needed. I got an L7 in a ported box and still question where more bass comes from...up front or in the back...

No, he means what he said .. HOOD struts. That is what is needed to keep the trunk open.
