New Scosche Dash Kit Info

If you saw my other thread, About the Pioneer Double Din HU, I've been searching for Dash kits and I can't afford the GXE kit. The scosche kit that I see everywhere and on here looks like this, and this is even on their website:

But on sounddomain, as of May 08, they have an article saying scosche just made a new kit for the 00-03 Max and even comes with new brackets instead of messing with the old ones, and shows this pic

The article list it as the same part number as the first one, NN1494B.
BUT, on Scosche's website, the list a new kit for the 00-03
"Max 00-03 Nissan Maxima DIN & DBL DIN -NN1648B" With this new part number and it says it will be available Aug 08 (now), but isn't listed yet on their site elsewhere.

http://www.scosche.com/scosche.caraudio

Has anyone bought a dash kit from them recently and got this newer style? I am wondering it the new one listed on sounddomain is actually the new one, 1648B.

Anywho, I sent the company an email, so I will report back when I here, I was just wanting to know if anyone had this newer, blacker scosche kit that comes with new brackets. Thanks.

too bad the slots in that new design are in the wrong direction. I had to slot mine the other way on a milling machine at work. (up down, not front to back)

I just got an email from the company saying that the new NN1648B kit is available. He included the .pdf of the installation manual and it is the same as the picture above, which looks a lot better than the first one.

He said it is available, and the website no longer shows the kit in development list for Aug, but I can't find it on their site or on the all-knowing google. So when I get another response, I will let you all know whats up.

I think this should be great, I think the GXE kit is nice and all, but I don't need the vents attached, nor do I want to pay 150+ dollars for a kit I still need to modify to look good. I mean, thats some serious money for a dash kit that still needs to be altered to fill in the gaps.

I just called and ordered it. It isn't listed online anywhere, but it is 24.95 like all their other kits. I post some real pics when I get it in, should be 3-5 days.

I was supposed to be delivered today, not here. I did stop at a local store and saw a BestKits dash kit that has the dual single dins. It is a PERFECT color and shape match. Hopefully this new scosche will be, otherwise I will get the BestKits.

It just came, I will install it later tonight or tomorrow. Sorry for the suspense but I have a huge final friday. I'd say it is a 95% color match with the vents.

Here's pics. The included brackets are plastic BTW, but align perfectly. They seemed flimsy, but once it is all in there, it is pretty solid. I may use them for a template to drill new holes in the stock brackets, but not likely. It all in.

Here is a link for the BestKits Kit. I would be good for a single din, double you have to knock out the middle divider and there is no included brackets. That is the plus of the new Scosche

scosche. The light shinning on it makes it look lighter. I matches the vents very well. In direct light, it reflects a little more, making it look brighter and more silver. But it is pretty close. And that BESTKITS, I compared it real fast and it was kinda dark, so it may not be a "perfect" match, but they both are VERY close.

Install looks great. Ordered mine, it should be in tomorrow. Good idea with the bluetooth mic, how's that working there. I was going to put mine in the headliner, but that looks like a much cleaner install. Also, I have the Poineer AVIC-F90BT, and it has a blue wire for the power antenna but it says not to connect it to a power booster or anything that requires constant power, only to the relay for a power antenna to go up or down. I was wondering how you connected yours. I have an '03 and I think it uses a power booster for the antenna, so i don't want to connect it to the power antenna wire until I know if it can power it or not.

For install, with the 7551 wiring kit, you connect the blue and white stripe to the blue and white stripe. (I think, maybe its just the all blue.) Either way, they match and you don't need to connect the power antenna wire. There will be two wires, and printed on them one says amp (remote) turn on and the other says power antenna (For the motorized ones that raise and lower) Connect the amp turn on wire, Dont connect the power antenna. But all of the colors match completely, I put both harness grounds together and added some extra cable (2 into 1) and put them on the bolt sticking up on the right side. I found a nut that fits it and it is the perfect ground, along with the ground from the HU.

Lastly, people say I sound bad, so that maynot be the best mike location, but reviews have said that this HU is bad for that. I would suggest just taping the mic somewhere and trying it out, and moving it to where it is best, and then make it permant. Im thinking of routing mine in the headliner and mounting it to the back of the rearview mirror.

Has Bose. I used the Metra 7551 and went out from the RCA pre-outs. Get a high voltage HU, like the pioneers that are 4V. They also have an SLA feature to turn up and it is plenty loud!

Im not searching flea-bay for you. You didn't even post a link. I posted the brand and the part number. That should be sufficient to find it.

Got my kit and installed it today on my 2002 Maxima SE, and it's not a great match. In low light you can't really tell the difference, but during the day it's pretty obviously a lighter color.

I'd say that croser's pictures show its color accurately though, so did they put different color trim pieces in 2002-2003 Maximas? I have the manual climate control but my vent trim is the same color as the piece below his automatic climate control unit, which you can see in the pictures is much darker than the Scosche dash kit.

It does fit well, yeah the plastic seems flimsy but once it's in there I really doubt it's going to move. If you're worried about it drilling new holes into the OEM metal brackets would probably work.
