received an odd looking package today

This is what was in a rather large and heavy box that was dropped off at my office today.

One of my co-workers seemed to be concerned as he questioned if it was my new assault rifle or if I had taken up bow hunting.

Opening the case revealed this little aluminum beauty

For those of you that do not recognize it, it is a Billet Six amp from Tru Technology.

100W RMS x 4 @ 4ohms + 150W RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms

I will be bridging the channel pairs to yield:

300W RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms for the front components
+ 500W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms for the rear IB sub (just a little headroom there)

Here are a few more pics for your viewing pleasure

I almost forgot. Thank you Don

That is BEAUTIFUL! I have come around to these amps. I doubt I will ever be able to afford one though.

Nah, I am not really into firearms much. I have three young kids and I have also lost a couple of friends over the years due to accidental discharges.

It measures 31.5" X 10.25" x 2.25".

I am making a removable amp board which will bolt to the board I attached to the back of the seat during my IB sub install.

It will house this amp, line driver, the Dyn 3-way XOs and some wire duct to keep everything tidy. I layed it all out a few months ago on the computer. It will be tight but it will all fit.

I will have enough slack in the cables so I can lay the board flat in the trunk until I get all the adjustments nailed down. Once its mounted vertically, you really will not have very good access to either end of the amp.

" I so knew " What are you a valley girl from Cali?

Well if you insist on a price and do not want to call ... $3,000 before mods is the price. Of course if you wanted to gimme a call the price would be much nicer. Just ask Dave - the OP.

Amp and a few other goodies laid out on amp board.

My original plan was to keep all the wires on the front of the board enclosed in wire ducting. It did not look very good so I moved them all to the back. Oh well, 3/4" less trunk space will not kill me.

The two pieces of wire duct along the bottom of the board are for the speaker wires.

very jealous.

bit of constructive criticism. i would scrap the ducting. maybe run the speaker wires beneath as well or techflex/wire clamp them to the front of the board. the ducting looks way to industrial next to all that sexy gear. just my opinion though.

To add to that, If it were me I probably would have put one dyn xover on each side with the ssld6 in the middle, and if you lose the ducting and run speaker wires below as well, it looks like you could squeeze the ssld6 in there vertically instead of horizontally. Just for symmetry's sake.

Looks good though, and giving advice has no bearing on still being jealous of the amp.

I agree. Part of what I do is industrial controls so that is where the materials came from.

It is by no means a final product. I was going to either paint the ducting to match the board or do it up in an aluminum color paint that closely resembles the components.

If it looks good, I will go with it, otherwise I will try something else.

Symmetry is a good idea. I never thought of that.

My method was to keep all the low voltage input wiring at one end and the speaker level wiring at the other. It is the industrial controls background sneaking in.

I guess I have some holes to fill

Thanks for the tips.

I agree with the symetry. crossover on each side facing each other would work for eye candy, mine anyway.

AC inducing on DC though? I dont see an issue.

However anything that you use industrial wise, feel free to pass along to me as well to 'try out'.

Most of what I deal with is ugly, bulky stuff meant for 600V applications.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the amp was: "HOW THE F IS THAT GOING TO FIT IN HIS CAR?"

Then I saw your board, well done!

Is this a little more presentable?

There was not enough room to flip the line driver 90 degrees and still fit all the rcas in.

I have about 16 hours of driving to do this weekend so I have the board just laying flat in my trunk with all the speaker and rca cables strewn across it.

It will stay like that for about a week while I play with the tuning.

The board will then be painted and properly mounted to the rear of the seat. I will post some more pics when it gets to that stage.

I have this really high build black/grey hammertone paint that I was going to try. It contrasts very nicely with the aluminum and goes well with the stock gray trunk carpeting

If I don't like how it turns out, I may go with a black canvas.

very nice. i think an oem match carpet would be the best finish but no harm in trying something new first.

plan on using snap bushings for the wire pass throughs?
