Replaces Bose HU and subs. Open air system

I enjoyed the stock Bose system when I first got the car but I quickly discovered it just didn't have the low end and I wanted to do something to round out the system. I added an MTX amp and a MTX box. This worked well until I figured I needed more trunk space and didn’t want to haul around 60lb worth of sub box everyday. So I decided to go infinite baffle, but I couldn't find any IB speakers now day. Years ago that was pretty hot but IB has fallen out of favor. Probably due to the deeper bass in todays music and overall reproduction accuracy.

As usually the org had some info: I stumbled across one of Nismos14 I/B threads and helped me out with an IB set up using DLS 8in woofers. Sooo....

I REMOVED THE WICKED STOCK SUBS AND SLAPPED IN THE DLS I/B WOOFERS:

Eventually the head unit failed with the same problem many others have experienced. The drivers side cutting in and out and sounding terrible. I also think one of the DLS 8in blew. So I decided to do a little overhauling on the system. Not having endless supply of cash I did it as cheaply as I could.

I went with an Eclipse CD3200. I like the install kit with the pocket below the headunit instead of on top which would push it even lower near the shifter. http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/cd3200overviews.html

I AM LOVING THAT USB INPUT.

IT CAME WITH A REMOTE.

I bought two pair of Blaupunkt VC660 separates for like $150 shipped for both.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...nkt+Vc660.html

I am running the Blaupunkt separates with a Sansui SM2400 6X35watts 4ch bridged and 2 for the rear components. LOL BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW FOR $40 These were made by Precision Power back in the day when PPI was making their own stuff here in the USA.

Once again via some swapping with Nismos14 I ended up with some MTX T5508-44 DVC 8in subs and replaced the DLS subs. http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products...a_T5508-44.pdf

THESE BABIES ACTUALLY DO PRETTY WELL

MOUNTED

Last but not least I picked up a Bel 965 radar detector at one of the Circuit City store they are closing in Colorado. I also bought a Country Joy Mount for it. This eliminates the suction cups. I think I've lost 3 radar detectors to failed suction cups, plus whatever damage it does when it falls on my stereo.
I will be getting the smart plug hardwired soon too. (No more coiled wire!)

Nice work, especially the Cascade and the choice of shop. Great guys over there, you can actually tell Rich and Erik Don from Unexpected in Jersey said Hi.

LOL Who would have known. Yeah Rich and crew are real cool, very knowledgable. They know how to take care of the customer, quite a change from the typical car audio chain store. They like the Focal and Steg products. I will probably switch out my front Blaupunkts for some Focals at some point. I think they used to carry Rainbow too but I don't know if they have them any more or not.

I certainly tell him you said hi. Small world eh?

The VC660s sound great for the price. They are very detailed, even a little bright, with decent mid bass. The MTX subs are perfect for this IB application though. The hit very well. I would recommend to anyone looking to infinite baffle, I am very happy with them. (Thanks again Nismos14). To top it off, they are relatively inexpensive.

The Eclipse CD3200, lots of options and features. The only complaint I would have at all, would be the display, it's a little hard to read but other than that, I'm very satisfied.
