Newbie question about installing JVC SH99 (or any headunit)..
I'm a complete newbie to car audio (I read some of the links, FAQ's posted, but I haven't had enough time to do real research/reading..)
So I apologize if this seems like an "obvious" answer.
Anyway, my question is about installing an aftermarket headunit for a 95 Maxima (non-Bose). In particular, I'm interested in the JVC SH99 (for it's mp3 playability). Will I need to install new speakers or anything else such as amps, subs, etc.? or can I simply swap out the stock casette headunit and the JVC unit will work just fine with the stock speakers? I'm not too worried just yet about more bass or getting super sound quality, etc. I do plan on hooking up the rest when I have more time and $, but for now, I just want the mp3/CD player capability. So will the stock setup/speakers work if I just put in the new headunit?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Newbie question about installing JVC SH99 (or any headunit)..
for starter u most def don't want to jump way over ur head...changing ur headunit first is a very wise move...all that is required to do a non-bose installation is...a new headunit...antenna adaptor....wire harness or splice straight to ur factory harness...it's all plug and play...no need to take apart anything else other then the middle section of the car...

Cool. Thanks a lot. I did know about the wiring harness (I read somewhere that directly splicing into the factory harness wasn't a good thing), but never thought about the antenna adapter.
I made my decision for the JVC unit after reading your reviews on it. Have you gotten around to testing CDRW's yet?
