Lighting and audio questions...

Hey, i got an 04 Max se, This is the weirdest thing because im pretty good with audio but maybe you guys can help...
I have the completely stock Bose audio system still, when i listen to the radio everything is fine but when i put on a CD only the right side speakers play...
Ive tried doing everything with the Fade and Balance so that is definitely not the problem. Any suggestions?
Also im trying to install floor board lights in my Max that come on automatically when the Auto Headlights turn on... Does anyone know which wires i should tap to get this to work? I dont really like having switches for my interior lights i like them to come on automatically.
I had a similar lighting set up in my old cadillac but that was a bit easier.
Any help would be appreciated...

Sounds like your HU is going bust.

Someone else can chime in regarding which wire to tap for headlight - I'd go for the parking light wire myself, I just don't have the wire colors in front of me. Have you checked the stickies?

Parking lights (+) is red/blue in the driver kick, harness to rear.
Headlights are individual for L and R, in the engine bay. Blue (L) and Red/yellow (R) at a module behind the passenger side headlight in a gray 16 pin plug.

First off, have you tried multiple CDs? And use a real audio CD, not a burned CD. It's possible that your music may be a mono-stereo (a stereo file, but only one channel has data).

If not, I'd say it's your HU. It would be odd if it's a problem with the laser, since left/right data is stored consecutively.

I dont usually burn cd's...
kinda corny but i like to support the music bizz...
I have tried all 6 cds in my player and they all do the same thing.
Even my local audio shops are not sure what it is they just want me to buy a new HU...LOL
It really doesnt bother me that much because i like to listen to the radio but before i do any other mods to my stereo i want to make sure i wont have to buy a new head unit. If so that will be priority ya know.
ill probly just try to get my dash lookin like jsmithsoles's dash.
His dash is sick with the double din and the rearview camera on top where the oem info screen is and moving info screen to lower storage area.

sorry jsmithsole but that looks so sick i might just have to do it.
