This is my response to the previous thread, but since this is the new thread....
It's a message board, here for the specific purpose of getting and sharing information. How much you decide to share or leech is your own choice. It's very obvious that some users are more knowledgeable than others, and it should definitely be expected that the noobs are going to flock to those people like it's feeding time at the zoo.
With that expectation, the amount of information the 'expert' wants to divulge is also a choice the person should be allowed to make, with no hard feelings regardless of their choice.
Kev if you think you're getting inundated, then just stop responding, or respond with a link to the stickies to enable these noobs instead of spoonfeeding them info. The noob should be more than happy with any info you give them (if any), and certainly should not be upset if they don't receive a response.
But definitely don't leave your PM box full, some people might want to contact you for more legitimate reasons, which would be a PM you would want to receive.

I think the old addage "give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach him how to fish he eats for life" is true here. IMO most people nowadays just want the answer, and don't want to learn how to get to that answer, nor pass on that information to help someone else out. I hardly post on here anymore so I don't really care, but if I was in the biz like Kevin and others, I'd be hardpressed to divulge some secrets when I know I'm being used. Remember when the SSIM mod for 5.5 gens was "secret?" Now its widely known and discussed because a person bought a SSIM and figured out what was done to it.
I don't think his response is inreference to the pm'ing issue. I left for the same reason. One or two members that resorted to name calling and taking something fun and turning it into something personal. You guys can say whatever you want, it is behavior like this that has ruined a potentially good forum. The ONLY reason I came back to post is in hopes that things change and some good can be restored. I cannot remember the last time I signed on and today get a message that nothing has changed. I have found other people to share my time with. People that I would be proud to call a friend. It just isn't so here anymore. I really can't think of anything else to say. Ban me if you wish. I promise it won't matter.

I'm not taking sides, but everyones entitled to an opinion. Sometimes some might think something but not say it, what's worse? Thinking it but not saying it? Just because someone wants to put it out there doesn't mean everyone should take offense, and in the end it looked like the post that was made was jokingly, but someone took it seriously. Again I am not taking sides because I like everyone here, but everyone needs to lighten up a little bit.
everyone should just relaxxxxxx, not picking any sides here. we all bust each other's ***** all the damn time in this forum. like me...i had to live with stampboy comments for a good while
