So, I built a new box today...
I just hope it fits legth-wise. It is right at 40" long, which is the longest I measured to fit in the trunk. Getting it through the trunk-lid opening is going to be fun.

but it's still a good box non-the-less.

I don't know, I already had the cups, so cost was of no concern. It can't hurt to have them all in there, you can't see any of my wires anyway so looks doesn't bother me, and flexibility is always a good thing
Ok, so I like to experiment. Sue me...

Anyway; like I said, I may want to use to box for something else one day, and I already had the speaker cups - so no extra cost to me. You can't see them anyway, as they are facing the front of my Maxima...

The springs for the deck lid have to be bent up a little though...

I also realize that I forgot one important thing, and that was to put something over the port to keep the stuffing in
That **** is blowing all around my trunk now so I guess I am going to have to tear back into the box...
