Problem with door light, please help

Ok I bought cefiro indiglo kickplates, and decided to wire them to my door lights. Now, my pass side is all done and looks great but my driv side door light does not work. First off I took the door light out, and stripped the 2 wires for the door light, then ran 20 gauge wires to the kickplates. Now, I made the mistake of cutting both wires at the same time with snips, and then the light went off. Now my pass side door light works but drivers side doesnt. I was told by the dealer that I was missing a ground? I am not sure what that means, and I dont think there are 2 seperate fuses for each door? If anyone can please help it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks,

Mike

How did you run the wire into the door? Did you go through the factory wire bundle?

Ok I'm confused. You are talking about the lights that are located on your door pannel? What do you mean by door sill? You tried to splice the kicks to the door light, right? When you cut them both you could have posibly shorted the connection with the cutters, wich could have blown something. Can you return everything to the way it was when it was working? Sorry if I'm not much help, but I'm just trying to visualise your problem.
