speaker mounting..?

Hey guys... I have 4 entry-level blaupunkt speakers that I'd like to use to replace the stock speakers in my 95 GXE. My problem is that the mounting screw holes are not in the same places as the stock speakers'. Are there adaptor brackets for this purpose, and if so where can I get them? If not, what can I do to make the speakers screw into the door? The model number of the new speakers are P652C.

Thanks in advance....

Doug

Well, since the new speakers are 6.5" and the stock are 6.75" you need to make an adapter. If you have a jig saw then cut a ring that fits the factory mount, and then a hole in the middle that fits your new speakers.

Cutting a ring is a problem... There's no way I will be able to cut a circle for the speaker to fit into. The holes for the screws will just be way too close to the inside edge of the ring and will probably split if I try to screw it in. How come nobody else seems to have this problem?

stock are called Over sized speakers.... i sugest making a small adapter out of 1/4" plywood using a dremel or jigsaw. Shouldnt take that long to make. Or you can have them made up at a locla car stereo shop for around $20-40 depending.

Cut it out of MDF. It shouldn't split. And you'll end up with a better seal to the door than factory.

easier solution:

use the plastic bracket that is already on your stock speakers. use a flathead to separate the plastic part from the metal part. this will be your adapter. now put your aftermarket speaker on the template, mark the holes and drill into the plastic piece. screw the speaker to the plastic piece and then screw the entire thing back into the stocl location.

MDF? It doesn't really matter anyway.. I don't have access to the resources necessary for cutting circles. Oh well. I will try using the backs of the old speakers.

If you have 5 friends and half of them have fathers then you probably have at least two places to draw the resourses.

Trust me, I do not have the resources. If I had friends, I wouldn't be on this message board so much.

To which one are you referring? The one that adapts 6.5" speakers to an 'OEM 6.75" opening'?

And I hope she comes equiped with all the needed hardware. I mean install hardware like a jig saw, roto-zip, belt sander, fiberglass spreaders, damping mat rollers. And anything "else" that may come in handy.
