Ipod to my indash reciever help.

I have an older Alpine deck that has a ipod full speed connector. I would rather be able to select my music through the ipod itself, its a touch. Now would I gain better sound quality with the full speed connector "direct connection" to my ipod or can I go w/ my alternative with male audio cable to my headphone jack via aux? Im guessing the full speed connection is better in terms of sound, but by how much exactly. Thanks in advance and if this is a newbish question Im sorry in advance.

not sure if it's a tangible difference, but I think the digital connection is better. Are you sure that you cannot control the ipod from itself when it's connected to the stereo?

Yea I am positive, the demo alpine provided shows "alpine" displayed on the Ipod and all controls are via headunit. After much thought i have come to basically the same conclusion, I have a male stereo plug from my home entertainment to my ipod and it sounds good. Appreciate the response, I will probably try both plugs before I commit. Alpine swears by this speed cable.

Thanks.

The difference in sound quality is negligible between the dock connector and the headphone jack. Go with what's easier to implement.

I have the usa-spec ipod adapter hooked up to my 5.0 gen. I've tried the dock connector and aux rca input and cannot tell a difference in sound quality. Obviously the dock connection is preferred as it charges my ipod, and I can control it through the headunit and/or steering wheel audio controls.

See i liked the idea of being able to charge my ipod while its plugged in as well, but i found out that the dock connector is not going to be able to support my Ipod as far as charging goes, so im going w/ the aux rca input.
