New Pioneer deck bluetooth Iphone Sync

So I went into best buy today. This guy showed me that the Pioneer deck synced up with the iphone through bluetooth to anything that was playing. I would think this would defeat the purpose of having the "iphone adaptor." (Few another 100 you can get a new pioneer deck) The guy showed me that the iphone could be anywhere and it will sync to the H/U. I could be a little behind the curve here but I thought this was interesting because I always thought, till today anyway, that one needed an adaptor for this to work.

Oh I'm going to get this H/U and 2 new coaxles probably with a nice rockford amp or sony, not quite sure just yet. Anyhow thoughts on the above paragraph?

Do you have a BOSE sound system in your car or not?

I'd stay away from Sony products, Rockford is pretty good though.

I know, I never really liked sony but the guy was saying they claimed better numbers then the other fosgate one they had in the store....I know rockford is better anyway. Thanks for the insite thus far.

AFAIK. if the iphone has bluetooth, and the HU has bluetooth you would not need any adapter to play songs from the iphone on the system.

Fair enough, I always thought (from reading up on here) that the only way was to get an adaptor. Is bluetooth a "newer" feature for headunits? It seems for an extra 100 bucks I can get a nice headunit and have the iphone be capatible...seems to be the way to go?

bluetooth is a fancy name for "wireless". I think bluetooth has been around for a while, my avic d3 needs a little box that costs over 200 CDN to get that feature. Just ordered one today from eBay. I guess they decided to make it a full feature instead of an add on. Almost any new cell phone in the last couple of years should be bluetooth compatible.

That's a great feature because it's one less thing for the thieves to steal. If the iphone or cell phone is in your pocket all the time it won't get ripped off. I've had my ipod stolen out of the glove box when my doors didn't lock on their own last winter.

^^that sucks sorry to hear. Damn canadian mugers.

Anyhow, I used to sell cell phones down by the sea shore. Yeah say that 27 times fast. I knew bluetooth has been out with phones for a while. My garmin has bluetooth and I can take a call through it when in the car.

I was more or less talking about the deck itself. It seems that even the flip outs (in your case the avic -d3) didnt have bluetooth but now offers an "add on." I'm assuming that model is like 1.5-2 yrs old? I'm curious if this is a "newer" feature for decks and flip outs now this year. (2009)

I've had my Garmin for like 3 years now and would think that "Decks" and flipouts should be there already with the bluetooth technology. Apparently not and its about time. I like when technology talks to technology all by touch, now we're talking tech. Does anyone recommend any other built in bluetooth decks?

I know someone who bought a lower end single din but new model pioneer deck which had bluetooth built in. Problem is he never got it installed because it was going into a g35 and he just couldn't afford the JDM dash kit to go with it. I would have loved to see a demonstration of the deck. I should get my add on in a few weeks and I'll let you know how that goes.

I was just looking up the stats for the AVIC-Z110BT, which is just completely awesome for what it can do. It has voice commands, bluetooth, xm/sirius, MSN, it accepts media from SD cards.

I've read the description and it's a little vague as to whether you need the cable or not.
Here's the quote...
"On top of being an exceptional navigator, the AVIC-Z series delivers an iPod experience that blows away FM transmitters or cassette adaptors. Even at the first glance, you will fall in love with the easy-to-use touch screen controls for your music and brilliant 7-inch display for your videos. Album art is also beautifully displayed.

With the optional cable (CD-IU50V) connected to your iPod, you will notice how easily you can find songs, videos, artists, or playlists with a few simple taps of your finger. Pioneer has also created powerful searching tools such as Link Play and Alphabet Search to help you find content faster.

The AVIC-Z110BT also features voice-activated control of your iPod. Simply say the name of an artist, album, playlist, or genre to bring up the next song"

First paragraph makes it sound like it has something better than fm transmitter and cassette interface for the i-pod then farther down it mentions a cable?" So maybe you can have some features through the bluetooth, but you get more features with the cable?

You may want to download the user manual and see what features are available for the deck you were looking at.

my JVC kd-r900 plays audio over bluetooth, it's called A2DP, the same as using bluetooth headphones. I don't use it since the sound is better through a cable rather then bluetooth and I want my ipod to charge.

+1

I have a Pioneer decks that does the Bluetooth Audio. It works just as great as a wireless FM receivers without the extra adapters. It's pretty useful at times but the quality isn't too great. If you want, go up to BestBuy or where ever they sell that headunit and sync up your device and hear it for yourself.

Thats what the best buy guy showed me and he had the head unit only on 10 with an amp hooked up to 4 new speakers - more or less of what I'm planning on doing - and it sounded fine. He was also changing the songs from up to 30 ft away. Not that I would do that but the songs sounded fine to me on 10 anyway. I rarely play the radio above 18 on the stock non bose. The only reason one speaker is blown because my ex boss was drunk and decided to blair an eric clapton song or something on the way home from super bowl party or something at 11 at night. He had the radio on like 28-30..clown city

Again I just wanted to get some decent speakers and run an amp to them. I'm not looking to blare the system or have subs in the back or anything. Just some clear good speakers.

I also have an iphone car charger so I can just charge the phone from the center console...I dont need all those extra adaptors or whatever. I always buy a car charger with my phone, thats like standard nowadays....anyways...thanks for the insite again guys thus far.

Well if the deck has an USB slot a flash drive, see if you can hook up a normal iPhone data cable to it and see if it works. Sometimes it will requires it's own iPod/iPhone data cable but with mine, I got it to work with just the standard cable for the PC. That way you can use it to charge the iPhone AND get better quality for the music.
