Need help picking components on a budget

I currently have the Bose system in my 2k2. I recently replaced the headunit with an aftermarket double din pioneer unit. I am looking to upgrade the speakers subs and amps. My only dilemma is that I can't figure out what to get and still keep within my $500.00 price range.

Could someone please give me some ideas for the following items:

2x front 6.5" Component speakers
2x rear 6.5" Coaxial speakers (I know they aren't necessary, but I usually have passengers)
1X 5 channel amp or a 4 channel and a mono setup
1 sub to be mounted "free-air" on the rear deck lid. (other solutions without losing trunk space would be appreciated)

I am not an audiophile. I do like good sound, but I don't want to break the bank.

Also, I do have 2 twelve inch RF subs and a 400W mono amp in a sealed box. I am considering selling this to free up some extra cash.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

I have some high quality equipment for sale. You may be interested in the Rainbow speakers. I'll be honest, $500 is a VERY VERY tight budget for what you're trying to achieve.

Personally my advice would be to spend the money up front and do it right the first time. If you stick to $500, you'll likely be unhappy with your setup and want to upgrade sooner. Happens to all of us.

$500 budget?

Man some decent components will run you $300 and that just puts you in the game!

Trying to save space, you have 2 choices, an IB set up on the deck or a 1 woofer setup.

I have been reading anything I can get my hands on, and have decided to save up money to buy some decent equipment (used possibly).

I am looking at the rainbow SLC's for the components, and either ID or DLS Subs. Any recommendations on amps. I haven't been able to find much info on current product lines. By the way, I am considering the one 10" woofer on the deck where the Bose is or possibly two 8's mounted where the stock rear deck speakers are.

Thanks again for all of your input.

DJ,
I'm in Austin, TX. I pm'd you before about your stuff. I would still be interested in taking it off your hands. Unfortunately, I have the gray interior on my '02. If that can be worked out let me know.

All,
Thanks for the info. I do understand that it is a really tight budget to work with. I have done some research and figured out what speakers to get. Could anyone recommend some decent amps?

It all starts with $$ again bro!

What do you wanna spend and find the best thing you can in that $$ range!

Also maybe most importantly is the RMS on the speakers/amps are in the same ball park!

How about this:

Throw out your ideal setup for a grand; less installation, sound deadening, and a deck. Also, meeting the requirements of the layout that I originally posted.

Thanks for your suggestions.

1) spend your money on your front stage forget rear fill proper tuning can get the rear passengers happy. think of where the rear coaxials sit anyway poor poor staging with very little/no benefit
2) take a look at djfreestyles equipment very good stuff also look into
midbass http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=295-366
midrange http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=285-020
tweet http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=275-130
for sub http://aespeakers.com/shop/catalog/i...0979708b04dbf3

all had for 400 increase your budget by about 150 pick up 2 used 4 channels running 150x4 from http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/classifieds/

Guys,

Thanks for all of your help. I will definitely look into all of your recommendations.

Unfortunately, I now have several large repair items to fix before I can start the system.

You may still be able to get some of the precision power ppi356CS comp sets on ebay for dirt cheap. On the buyout they cleared everything they had.

You could pick up the 6.5 set for $119 and the 5.25 set for $59. You cannot and will not get anything better in that price.

I would look at a JL AUDIO IB12 if you can fit it. You can pick one up for $119. Very good musical woofer.

I would then focus on a decent 4 channel amp. You can find a range of amps for good price on egay.

You could do it for around $500 if you shop.
