Just out of curiosity does it matter if you use poly-fil or not in a ported box? I've had a few sealed enclosures i bought and stuffed them but this box I built is my first vented. Im waiting on my amp to get here now, gonna finish up the box this afternoon

You're not supposed to, it's meant to be for sealed only. I don't remember the exact reasons why not but definitely no with the ported enclosure. You using the ID and fosgate in your sig. for your setup? That's some nice equipment

You don't use poly-fill in a ported box. Only in sealed, if the volume of the box is smaller than the sub 'needs.'

Nice man, should keep the ID, I'll bet it would sound real clean with the JL, not a huge fan of JL but they are cleaner sounding for what they are.

Yeah, well i've been forced to sell most of my audio stuff but i actually got the cvr for nothing. I sold some 10's and got this sub. Selling my RF amp (which i didnt want to really) but thats another story. Now i have to sell the ID 10 and i have a brand new in box cvr 12 to sell as well. I loved the sq of the ID though, the cvr is loud but thats about it

I know someone selling a pair of ID Max 12's, don't know if that's related to this discussion at all.

cool. Got my JL amp today and installed it, sounds nice. Thumps pretty hard and low. Still gotta mount it on the box and it will be pretty much done.

Put some Tech Flex and heat shrink on the wiring and ran the power wire under the hood.

I'm gonna get some carpet this weekend and put a false wall up to match the trunk, also ordering a grill to cover sub to protect it. Still trying to find an amp since I'm only running 250 watts to it right now and it's just not cutting it at all . I'm also gonna build a downfiring box on sunday and see if I like it better.

It sounds clean but it's only getting 300 watts or so, way under what it really needs.

250@4ohm
500@2ohm
1000@1ohm

All at 12 volts. It's a solid amp and wish it was giving me what I needed for a single 4 ohm sub, I'm still gonna keep it because I used to have an xtr 2400 and sold it, wish I never did.

From what I understand, TMA is a JL audio company. The J2 amps are sold through JL audio dealers. So really the J2's are simply a TMA amp with a JL Audio badge on em. Mainly made to be affordable but still well built.

Thanks man, I totally agree. I just like seeing the looks on people's faces when they see an 8 in the trunk. I will say though that I've had trucks as my last 4 vehicles and getting my first trunk car loud might be a little bit of a hastle.

Funny you should mention that, yrs ago my bro. had a jeep grand cherokee with 2 JL 12's that would stand your hair on end. When I had my first box in the trunk of my max I was like wtf? NO where close. At least your seats do fold down, that makes all the diff.

All I have is a small hole where the armrest folds down
