Anyone else has 2 Sets of Components in their Max?

I already have a set of Focal 165K2 up front and I'm about to have a set of Focal 165K installed on my rear deck this week. It should sound incredible Just wondering if anyone else has done a similar setup in their Max, and how you like it so far.

Ange,

My friend has this type of setup in his third gen. He has the tweeters angled so they face toward the windshield. It sounds really clear, but the highs get really intense after listening for more than an hour. Anyway, i would definately reccomend this setup, it sounds great.

If done right, it will sound great. If the tweeters arent mounted and angled correctly, it could be a bit too bright, with the way Focals can be. But you are choosing great components so you'll be on the right track.

Thanks guys..
I was told by a friend who's got the Focal 165K(for the rear) that have a slight edge on bass response than the Focal 165K2 (higher model). I'll make sure the tweeters are angled properly.

I'd leave the tweeter out.

I'm looking to get full imaging in the cabin.
IMO- to leave the tweet out wouldn't do justice for passengers sitting in the back.

Full imaging? And you putting speakers in the rear right behind the rear people? I think your using the wrong words. But hey it's your car do what you want, I just can't fathom putting speakers in the back for some passengers screw them they want sound back there let them buy um.

Ange, if you're really looking for imaging for the rear passengers, I would suggest looking into mounting the rear components in the rear doors and mount them like the front door. It would cost a bit more than just putting them in the rear deck, but the imaging would be better, and you would get less negative interaction with the front. Just a thought.....

Prolly using the wrong words... ya'll know more about systems more than I anyway. Technicalities aside, we'll see how it sounds after the install. That matters the most to me.

Ange, you'll have to hear my setup at the next meet. JBL's all around, even the 12" sub. Just put a cap in last weekend and I love it even more now.

I'd suggest people pay more attention to the rear speakers.
I look forward to the days when I find myself in the backseat
of my own car with a certain, oh so lovely, lady. Great speakers
emmitting Prince tunes simply intensifies the experience

uh oops sorry nevermind.

Ange,

you will never hear the difference between a component in the rear vs a coaxil in the rear.

i'm running focal utopia 165w3 in the front and utopia 165w in the rear.. for the rears i've set the cross over of the tweets down to -2 so my sound imaging wont be screwed up.. i would take the tweets out but i'm also doing SQ+ (multimedia) so when i'm playing movies i want the sound to come out like it should at movie theaters.. i would have chosen to put my rear components in the rear doors if i was going for just music, but since i'm greedy and want a lil more than music in my car i had to put my speakers in the rear deck.. to power them i have the ppi pc4800 amp which i might upgrade in a few yrz or so since it'll be very out dated by the time i complete the install in it's entirety, and for bass i have one dinky 12" aluma pro dual voice coil alchemy powered by a small phoenix gold zx600ti.. that is out dated to.. and to make sure those amps get a consistant flow of power i'm using a phoenix gold power core 15farad capacitor. for sound adjustment i'm using two eqt concert series 1/3octave equalizers for the fronts. later downt he road i'm plannign to integrate virtual reality goggles for the rear passengers instead of in head rest monitors (those things are far more than played out). for my video i have an alpine TV tuner with source selection, DVD navigation, and at times a PS2 game console, for the head unit i chose the alpine cva-1005 in dash fold away monitor (not my favorite) which replaced my eclipse double din 7301 in dash monitor (i favor this one alot more than my current alpine) finally i have a 12 disk CD changer for audio and to keep it all running in the parking lot i have a optima blue top.
future audio mods include 8" woofers in the rear doors and 8" midbass in the front doors.

well.. im sure you've heard enough advice from everyone, but ill just throw in my own experience.. i have 2 sets of diamond audio componets in my 95. alot of places will tell you to go crazy on your front doors and to just buy anything with huge magnets for rear fill cause u wont hear the difference. well.. mabye some other cars are different, but i could tell the difference in my car. i have the mids in the front doors with the tweeters mouted in the door next to them (low), and have the other mids in the rear deck with the tweeters mounted rite on top of the facotry bose grilles. it sounds damn good.. the only thing i think i may change is to either move the front mids (or add another set) and get the kick panels, and mount the tweeters higher up on the door, by the interior handle. the kick panels will improve the sound of the mids because the angle at which the fire creates the most equal distance between each front speaker and each ear.( u follow this?? lol) the way our cars are set up, the right mid is much closer in distance to your right ear than the left mid is to your left ear. the kick panels make this distace as close to being equal as possible.(aside from the fact that the mids are almost firing at each other and the drivers side firing into your leg in the stock position which cancels out some sound). im sure your happy with the arrangment you have now, i am, but if you want to improve if it even more thats how u can. but anyway, yes, adding a rear componet set in the rear deck will sound much better.
