dont knwo what sub to buy

i am looking at 2 diff subs and i have a few questions

solo beric 12inch 2 ohm or 4 ohm
rockford fosgate power HX2 12inch 2 ohm or 4 ohm

both subs r 2000max watts and 1000rms

what is the diff between 2 ohm and 4 ohm?? thats about all i have to ask right now.....

i will also be running an off brand amp which is a Logic 1400 watt amp 1400 x 1 or 700 x 2

thanx guys

Re: dont knwo what sub to buy

Rockford makes pretty good subs, although I wouldn't buy the co-axial speaks from them, and solo beric is also good.

The difference between the 2 ohm and 4 ohm speakers is the amount of power that is needed to go. A 2 ohm speaker has 2x less resistence in the wiring so it takes less power to make sound the same loudness as a 4 ohm speaker.

If your max stereo power is at 2 ohms, and max bridged power is at 4 ohms then you want a single 4 ohm sub, or a pair of 2 or 8 ohm subs.

so i should go with the 4ohm sub and not bridge it??

So, basically 4ohm L7's need more power then the 2ohm ones?

No. The same power into a different impedance. Another thing to remember is that every time you halve the impedance you halve the control the amp has over the sub. The ability of the amp to properly control the sub greatly affects the perceived volume.

I would get two 2 ohm subs, wire them in series and bridge the amp. 700 watts a piece is plenty of power. If if the amp is way over-rated, 350 watts should be plenty to rock those subs. Don't worry about my last post about the amps damping factor. Most people never notice this affect anyway.

350w RMS per L7 IMHO is a waste of money/sub. I would go with a cheaper sub to go with that amp.
If you're going to upgrade that amp I would get L7's though.

Ten to twelve years. Jim obviusly missed that 350 watts RMS would be the output if the amp is way over rated. The difference between 350 watts and 700 watts is only 3dB, same as the difference between 700 and 1400 watts.
