Installing component speakers?

I've installed these in some of my cars, however none of my cars had separate tweeters. So do I just not use the wires that go to the existing tweeters and hook them up normally?
Where is the factory crossover? I assume in the headunit..
Anyone got a good place to mount the crossovers?

Its quite simple, there is no factory xover like an aftermarket unit. If you using the head unit to power them its simple hook up and you mount the new xover inside the door panel there is a little room in there but you will have to try different positions to see which works best for the size of xover you have.

Mount the crossovers anywhere you can, and I would personally run seperate lines to the tweeters. The stock wires are pretty small. I have my crossovers mounted under my front seats.

I would also suggest getting a dedicated amp to power those components. The power from a head unit will not do them justice.

I would, but I don't really need an interior amp. Had one in the last car and it wasn't worth it.

IMO you'll be better off with some coaxials then. components typically perform at their best when powered by a dedicated amp. The 20 some-odd rms from the HU won't be enough.

Why was your last amp not worth it? Just curious.

In my eclipse I had a alpine 7995 headunit without an internal amp. Alpine type r 6x9s for the rear, type r 6.5" components in the front, 10" alpine type r sub and 2 amps, alpine f240 and alpine m350.
I spent a good buck on this system and it was honestly good but not great. Not what I expected.
I took out the sub (I'm still doing a fiberglass enclosure, but it's too cold outside to finish) and got a newer alpine headunit and lost the internal amp and it sounds damn near identical. I didn't see the point for spending the money on all the wires, and amp and it sounding damn near the same.

I'm not looking for any fancy components for this car, simply some alpine type s will work great for what I need.

I also read that the type s walked all over the type r's a few years back. Maybe it was when I got all my stuff. In my camry I had a pioneer headunit and 6.5" type r coaxials all around and it sounded baller! However it could be speaker placement too because in my 97 eclipse the front speakers were soooo low and the rears faced you, they rears would always overpower the fronts. So who knows exactly.
Also I'm on a tight budget.

So where does the wire for the tweeters split? I have a 02 maxima, have already installed tweeters and woofer, cd player just installed (alpine), alpine in dash amp on the way. Crossover not yet installed. Ideally I was hoping there was a particular wire that went to tweeters on the harness, which I could splice into... I am unsure at this point, can anyone clarify Where the factory wiring for the tweeters can be spliced into? I am planning on using factory wiring, the speakers are going to be getting 45watts rms.

Any help is appreciated.

Well the type R's would be getting only most likely 50 rms each from the headunit which is still not enough for those beasts....trust me those things bang pretty loud even without a sub if you tune them right...with an amp of course...

Components first, then I can always add an amp later.

Oh yeah. The crossover is passive. Its on the back of the tweeter. Not very high tech...so the lead to your tweeter is full until it hits the tweeter

Well mines a 2002, the tweeters are in the pillars, it would be much easier if they were in the doors. It appears in the diagram that there is a split somewhere, does anyone know the physical location of the split in wiring?
