Way to disable stock CD player?

My brothers 97 maxima SE's cd player is making a loud clicking noise, and he doesnt use it so he just wants to disconnect it. Which wire would i have to cut behind the headunit to kill the cd function... I figure if he ever needs a cd player he can just hook up a cd changer later on. Anyone know which wire or what steps i need to do for this to happen? Thanks.

im not trying to disable the whole radio, just the cd part of it. The cd player is making a clicking noise while the radio is in FM mode also. All i need to figure out is how to kill the cd player of the headunit and not the whole headunit.

It needs fixed take it to be fixed or just get a new one and call it a night. It sounds like one of the gears for the mechinisim for holding the cd is messed up.
