Can someone give a rundown on the sizes of all the speakers (8 of them) in a 2004 with the Bose system?

Front and rear door speakers are 6.5". If you have BOSE, then you have comps in the front doors. The tweeters are in the sail panels. The rear deck speakers are either 6x9", or 8" round...you have to check to see which you've got. Your speaker mounting depth in the front doors is EXTREMELY limited. When the window is rolled down, it comes down right behind the speaker. I used a 5/8" MDF spacer to raise the mounting depth of the woofer in the front door. If you call Crutchfield, they can give you the top/bottom mounting depth specs.

 

I do have the Bose system and I've heard that it runs on 1 ohm while most car stereo systems are 4 ohm. Is this true? If so, do I have to replace them with Bose speakers?

 

That is correct, Bose normally run at 1 ohm, while a majority of aftermarket audio equipment are 4 ohm nominal.

I would just invest in some good aftermarket gear and replace the entire thing. But yes, you can just swap out a Bose speaker for another unit if yours is faulty.

 

I plan on installing a Pioneer head unit in the next week or so, will it work with the current Bose amp/speakers? Or will all that need to be replaced at the same time?

 

Ascendant is better versed in this than I am, but I'm not sure how an aftermarket head unit will work with 1ohm speakers. They are typically designed to run 4ohm speakers...maybe 2ohm. I'm not sure if there's any possibility for damage to the head unit with any long-term exposure to 1ohm speakers.
