Someone help me plan

I want a new stereo setup. I can either stay with my bose and just get a head unit and sub and amp. or i can sell everything and get everything aftermarket. I am planning on spending about 500 if i am selling everything.... i am not too into great stereo, but i just need something better than my stock bose any ideas?

It will be hard to improve the SQ for $500 by replacing the Bose. I would buy a sub and amp to work with it.

I'd use a single 10, and it depends on the amount of bass you're looking for. I would personally recommend a JL Audio 10W0 and there are a few amps that would do well with it. JL makes some nice ones, you could also use a Soundstream, as well as a few others. If you want more bass, check out www.ampmanaudio.com and look at the Shiva 12" sub, and the ESX line of amps. Should be able to do all that for under $500 and would have excellent bass.

well..i am not really thinking about anything that's extraordinary...just something that i can feel on my back when i drive hehe... so i guess a single 10 will do..and a decent amp. u think a regular fosgate amp will work?

A new headunit will typically improve things more than anything when looking to start out on changes.

Me????? yeah! But the reallity is that a head unit will prob make the bigest diff without changeing anything else. A sub will add to the low end. If I was to build a system piece by piece, I'd go in this order head unit, speakers, amps, subs, processers.

Sorry when I read it the first time I thought you said you din't change the head. It kinda depends one what you want to do at this point. If all you want to do is add bass than a sub and an amp for it would be good. If you really want it to sound better get rid of the factorys get some midline speakers or high end ($$$ up to you) and amplifi them. I really don't think you want to hear my opinion on the sony exploid stuff.

Give me a price range and I'll give you some units. But ones to look at would be, eclipse, alpine, nakamichi, premier i'd stick to those brands in the midrange and up.
