Quick question for an Audio guru..

On a 2000 Maxima GLE with Bose system. I'm pretty audio incompetent, so please excuse me lol.

I've been wanting to upgrade the ancient dinosaur I have currently (Jensen VM9512). I have the headunit's harness spiced right in to the adapter harness provided by Crutchfield, and everything has been working just fine (stock Bose subwoofer and all).

I've been looking at the Pioneer AVH-P1400 DVD. When I "add to cart" on crutchfield, I get the message... "The Crutchfield harness allows you to use the factory amp(s). In order to retain fading abilities, the new radio must have front and rear preamp outputs." The website also states that this headunit is NOT recommended for your vehicle. Current and proposed headunit both show 6-channel preamp outputs.

I'm just a little confused on what exactly that means. Is the website correct? If it is, is there a way around it besides a different choice in headunit?

Thanks for any help!
