Scosche adapter?
Scosche adapter?
Looking into replacing factory head unit in 99 Maxima with Bose, and keeping factory Bose speakers/amps. Crutchfield recommends a JVC double DIN unit, and also this:

Has anyone used this adapter? I assume it lowers the head unit speaker output signal to not overdrive the Bose amps/speakers, but I wonder about sound quality, since we have a signal going first through the head unit preamp/amp, then lowered, then re-amplified again with the Bose amps.
Also, after reading various posts here, I see that there is a Metra adapter that can take the head unit preamp (RCA) outputs and feed them to the Bose amps/speakers.. this new head unit says it has 2.5V preamp outputs, is that high enough? There are other head units that have 4V preamp outputs, but at a higher price... Opinions/experiences are welcomed...
