Replaced Starter - Remote Start Issue?

I replaced the starter on my 2k. I bought the duralast rebuilt starter from Autozone. Install went fine and it fired right up with the new starter.

However, now when I try to remote start the car (have a hornet 554t system) it won't start up. It will act like it wants to crank but it seems the starter quits. A couple times it made a fast ticking sound like a bad starter.

Funny thing is there is no issue when I start it normally with the key.

Could it be I have a bad starter? Maybe I need to change the crank time for my hornet remote start? It's perplexing me.

Any ideas?

It's by the tach. Good thinking, but I found that wasn't the issue. The issue appears to be a negative ground wire I added from the battery to the top of the tranny. When I installed the Autozone starter I accidentally pushed the ground wire right under the starter.

I found when this when I installed a Nissan rebuilt starter and had a problem starting it. I move the ground wire back on the inner fender as far away from the starter as possible and the car started just fine both with the key and with the remote starter.

Does this make sense that a ground wire from the battery against a starter motor would cause this type of problem?

yes certainly could cause an issue with the remote start ifits on voltage sensing it would cause to little voltage to keep it running

Issue seems to be corrected now. It looks like I had both a bad starter and bad battery. The battery would charge, but wouldn't hold a charge. Autozone replaced for free under warranty. It has started fine since.

Now just dealing with a P1320 SES code.
