2006 Bose (No Navi) upgrade tech options?
First post here:
I have a 2006 SE that has the Bose stereo but NO Navi. Been wanting to make the audio more "modern tech like." I'm getting tired of making and keeping up with CDs. I need help though deciding on what would be best: adding AUX vs. USB vs. Ipod/Iphone connection? I guess Bluetooth would be another option. I have no experience in installing anything so I'd be taking it to somewhere like CarToys to have it done.
Which would give the best sound quality? I want to keep a clean/factory look if possible. I don't mind changing the look as long as it's not too outrageous/tacky looking.
AUX, USB, and Bluetooth seem more universal. My wife's Toyota has an AUX jack, and it sounds great. I tried plugging a USB drive into her Toyota, and it worked/sounded great, but just seems like there was some lag (playing one song to the next, fast forwarding withing a song).
When I called CarToys to see the possible options, he mentioned the Ipod/Iphone hookup route. However, what if my next phone isn't an Iphone? I probably wouldn't want to limit myself like that.
Hopefully whoever I end up using for the install would do a good/clean job. I like to keep my car clean and problem-free, so potential problems after installation is also something to keep in mind (would still like the CD changer to be able to work in case I sell the car or something to someone who still prefers CDs).
My Max has Bluetooth, but that is only good for phone calls, correct? I know when I bought it the individual that sold it said there is a problem with it. I cannot even get my phone to connect. Even if I got it fixed it would only be good for phone calls if I remember correctly.
Thanks in advance!
