2003 Bose Treble and Bass Settings

I installed a sub and amp to my otherwise stock Bose stereo. I tuned the amp with the Bass setting at -2. It sounds great, and it hits quite hard. My problem is that I can't handle it hitting so hard for a long time. I must have sensitive ears after listening to such loud music as a teenager. I turn the Bass to -3 or -4 at times to quiet the sub down a bit. Here's my question. Since my Bose stereo only has Treble and Bass settings, when I turn down the Bass so much am I turning the mid range down as well? I keep the Treble set at +5 at all times. Should I re-tune the sub's amp with the Bass setting at 0 instead? Or does the Bose stereo keep the mid range at a constant no matter what the treble and bass are set at?

The bass setting will still effect your midrange some. I think setting the gain down on your subwoofer amplifier will work best. If you don't already have one, and your amp has this option, a remote bass controller helps with this as well.

In my 7th gen I kept the stock Bose stereo. I only changed out the dash speakers and added a sub & sub amp. I use the remote **** controller to change the bass settings at times. Comes in handy.

I put my Bass setting at 0 and turned down my amp's gain a bit. The sub now blends in with the rest of the system without being overpowering.

Thats good to hear. At times, a little bit of tweaking is what's needed to get your system dialed in.
