Boss Sub Question

I am not sure if this has been asked or documented but I cannot seem to find it. Has anyone added an amp and subs to the Bose system, changed the head unit and put a crossover on the factory subs? I am curious to know how that would sound as I am interested in keeping the factory speakers for now but would like to take all the bottom end out of the subs in the back and use aftermarket subs to pick up the lower frequencies.

Not worth all the work to keep the factory speakers (that are 1 ohm and won't work with most amps). Still possible though.
