Anyways... get a Pioneer or Kenwood. Don't jack around with Sony, Aiwa, or Panasonic. Maybe JVC or Clarion if you find one you really like. Alpine or Nakamichi if you have a lot of money to throw away.
Speakers... You can buy either 6 1/2" or 6 3/4" speakers, either will fit. For the money, I don't think there's anything wrong with Pioneer speakers, just make sure you buy some that can handle the peak power you intend to run to them... If you're not going to install an amp, then you're running off the deck's power, which will most likely be around 40-50 watts per channel. Pretty much any speaker should be able to handle that.
Jesus Christ, just please don't buy a Sony deck.
uh oh...this is news to me...i always thought sony made good reliable stuff...i heard the pioneer made lousy headunits...my friend has two in each of his cars and both are slowly breaking down...anybody else???

Well for what it's worth, I just bought a Kenwood Exclelon 817.
