first, don't buy a Sony deck, please. I've had 4 since like '95 and they all had problems (especially with the volume control) within 1 yr. The good thing was I always bought from Best Buy and instead of repairing *ANY* Sony deck, they always just replaced the broken deck w/ in-store credit for another deck of my choosing. Unfortunately I always bought another Sony because I had a Sony changer that required a Sony deck with changer controls, wouldn't work with any other brand.

Anyways... get a Pioneer or Kenwood. Don't jack around with Sony, Aiwa, or Panasonic. Maybe JVC or Clarion if you find one you really like. Alpine or Nakamichi if you have a lot of money to throw away.

Speakers... You can buy either 6 1/2" or 6 3/4" speakers, either will fit. For the money, I don't think there's anything wrong with Pioneer speakers, just make sure you buy some that can handle the peak power you intend to run to them... If you're not going to install an amp, then you're running off the deck's power, which will most likely be around 40-50 watts per channel. Pretty much any speaker should be able to handle that.

Jesus Christ, just please don't buy a Sony deck.

Pioneer

Pioneer is a great brand, and they have a good warranty with the premeir line. stay away from the older flip down face models, the harnesses in ALL of them that i have seen become samaged after time.
