You will need good quality wiring. Also, properly treating your doors will go a long way. Don't forget about deadening material for your trunk as well.

The goal was to get a system that was much better than stock without spending excessively or going overboard. Went out on boxing day to get all these goodies, got some deals and this is what i ended up with...

FINAL SETUP

Front: ALPINE SPS-610 6.5" 2-ways
Rear: ALPINE SPS-510 5.25" 2-ways
Bass: Clarion WG2520 10" 300W rms/1000W max 4 ohm
Amplifier: ALPINE MRP-M500 (class D) 300W @ 4ohm for subwoofer
Deck: Pioneer AVH-100DVD 6.1" + Metra kit

Chose to go stock size everywhere but the sub. the 5.25" alpine SPS series are actually really good, the sound is almost identical to the 6.5" size and the tweeters are adjustable so i can direct the fronts upwards to make up for the loss of a component type system.
they give MUCH more volume and clear sound over stock speakers and the speakers alone produce the same bass (but clearer) than the whole stock BOSE system... and that was just powered off a 200W deck

I went with a less expensive sub and got a deal on it, the 500W rms ALPINE SWS10D2 was really nice, not gonna lie, but it was more than i needed or even wanted. So i listened to my music through some Clarion sub that was already plugged in and i liked it. volume low but cranked from -5 to 0 on the EQ and it was already enough with some more bass to spare so i went with that.

Snatched an ALPINE amplifier that was on a crazy sale! Just needed something to adequately power my sub, it had good reviews and it came with a RCA, everything-you-need cable kit to hook it up!

Total cost about $700CAD after tax, only missing my sub box and wiring and i'll be installing it with a friend who can save me some $$ and gonna look into sound treating the doors
