Ported will be louder than sealed. Email the manufacturer ( is that RF? ) for recommeded box volume and port dimensions for high SPL system.

Let me explain this in a little more detail. RF is a mega money manufacturer. They have the dough and the engineers etc. and LEAP software. So email them for the recommended box volume and port dimensions. You hear it that time, email RF. Make sure you make it clear to them that you want an SPL system.

I was wondering the same thing does it matter if you make the ported box bigger then the requirments?

and whats the difference between a bandpass and ported?

As I said earlier, ported will generally be louder than sealed. Depending on the frequency you tune it to the sound quality could be as good as or much worse than sealed. Same for power handling. If you make it bigger than recommended it becomes more efficient but you must adjust the port dimmensions appropriately for the desired tuning frequency. Also when you make any box bigger a sub becomes more efficient which means that you need less power to achieve the same excursion. Power handling decreases.

Bandpass uses two seperate chambers and the sub is completely concealed. All the soundwaves that you hear are produced by the interaction of the sub, the chambers and the ports. In other words there is no direct radiation of soundwaves from the driver to your ears. They can be difficult to tune, but done properly can be very rewarding. One drawback other than the high probabillity of mistuning is the large box size.

For max SPL without losing all SQ I would use ported. Tuned as low as practical. But I would keep in mind the lowest frequencies that my music tastes represent for the sub. For me that would mean tuning at 25 hz or less. For the average hip-hop, rap, R&B listener tuneing to 30-35 hz would be plenty low. In either case I would use an infrasonic filter set 5-10 hz below the tuning frequency.
