adding extra cupholder

A friend was telling me about how 91-95 mr2's have optional double din cd players, or single din cd player with cupholders to fill in the extra space. Has anyone heard of a generic cupholder that will replace a single din cd player? I was thinking about getting a rio, but then I would have extra space.....

car audio places have plastic inserts that can be made to cover up the hole. (forgot the name of the material)

You can also find someone that has an extra tray to fit under the radio( I got one from Mr. Nismo before)

Another alternative is to get an EQ or a folding LCD screen =)

No, it's fiberglass. A little resin, a little glass, and voila! a new cupholder! Or go to Wal-Mart or Trak Auto and get a cheap aftermarket cupholder. Or if you really want to go overboard you could use a linear actuator and have it motor out at the press of a button.

DON'T DO THIS!!! The Ford Taurus has a single-DIN cupholder under the factory stereo. Every time you brake heavily you will get ur drink sploshed into ur stereo.

Been there, done that, ripped the cupoholder out in rage after having to replace the stereo and instead mounted a set of 3 guages in the DIN slot under the stereo.

That is one reason why cups you use in the car should have a lid with a small hole for a straw.
