hey tech gurus-

i need help hooking up my tv to my tuner. i have a tv with no audio/video jacks...all i have is the antenna connection. i have vcr with audio and video inputs/outputs and i also have a tv tuner that has several outputs/inputs. i bought a rf modulator and have no clue what to do with it...radio shack explained it to me..but i had no clue what he was saying. is it even possible to hook up my tuner to my tv and get audio out to my home audio speakers??? i wasn't sure since my tv doesn't have audio/video jacks.

thanks guys

Yes you can.

Here's how it has to work. If you want to listen to the TV in stereo, you have to use the TV as a monitor, nothing more. All it will do is show the picture. To get sound into the Reciever you have to use the TV tuner built into the VCR and connect the audio outputs on the VCR to a set of inputs on the receiver. That will supply the sound. Then run a coax cable from the VRC cable output to the connection on the back of the TV. Then turn the volume all the way down on the TV. This will only work if your VCR will allow both the RCA outputs and the cable out to work at the same time. otherwise, get a new TV.

You only need the RF modulator if you want to listen to the sound of the TV without having the VCR on.

Simple explaination (assuming you have cable TV):
- Coaxial cable1 (cable TV) goes into input of VCR
- Coaxial cable2 (output of VCR) goes into TV
- Audio out on VCR goes to input of tuner

How to play
- select the correct input on the tuner
- Turn on the VCR and the TV
- Make sure TV/VCR is to VCR
- Turn your TV to channel 3 or 4
- All channel changing will be with your VCR
- All volume control will be with your tuner
- Bonus: You can play with your TV volume to make it seem like you have a center channel.
- Return RF modulator, unless you want a different setup

If you need more help, just ask
