JL AUDIO W7s?

What do you guys think about these subs? I heard they are awesome if you want 1 sub that will perform as 2-3 subs. Like to see your views...

Yep. JL states that, "1 JL 10W7 will outperform 2 JL 12W3's!" It is true. I've put W7's and W3's in some nice rides here at work and the one W7 hit a hell of alot harder than the 2 12W3 box. For the amount of bass you get out of just one sub is the massive excursion this woofer can produce. JL Audio recommends you use their line of amplifiers to run their subs. The power output of their amps are matched pefectly to their sub line...

Why not? Most vendors do this to get the most out of their speakers. Rockford Fosgate was notorious for this back in the 80's when Fosgate was big. Fosgate amps worked tremendously well with their sub line....JL Audio is now doing the same with their new amp line.

I like my "12 inch ruler"

(ID Max)

I also agree the w7 ohms thing is GAY. Rather buy a big ole class D for cheaper than JL 1000/1 or whatever to run the w7, if i were insane nuff to buy one.

Rather have mine or the Adire Brahma, and pay like half the price for 90-110% of the performance.

Does the W7 need massive juice? Do you think an Alpine MRV-100M is sufficient to push this sub?

Let me tell you one thing:

Off course, JL W7 is an awesome sub, but it's more for SPL. It's clean but not the best. You gotta ask yourself - is it worth 750 bucks???
Especially if you can get IDMAX for 450bucks, which will be almost as loud, but much cleaner. (Image Dynamics is the best sub ever tested for SQ:SPL ratio).

Gotta decide here

Depends on the music, but its best for both in all tests.

Why are you asking for everbody's opinion, and then arguing with them? You asked for their views, they gave them to you, but every view that doesn't praise the sub, you contradict and say that the W7 is the best sub.

Because I posted this before I found the articles and ask people who install stereos for a living about them. They are rated one of the best subs out, and produce the most sound. They flex 3 inches!!! No other sub does that!

CAI and Y-pipe is definately worth it to make it faster but it will get louder. Seal the entire box off from the trunk like the pics on my website for maximum results.

Very tight and punchy..used to be that is. You gotta make sure your midbass speakers go down to at least 80hz so it sounds punchy.

I actually got a chance to hear the 13W7 today in a 2001 330CI and all I can say is this sub is a monster. When they say this sub performs like 3 12's, they are kidding. I felt my chest pound when I got outta the car. This sub requires a pretty large box, thats the only thing I did not like. Pricewise? A little steep, but it hits low and hard and for $600, I think its worth it.
