I just got a pair of JL Audio W0 10" subs. I don't have anything to hold the subs down. The guy at the place where I bought the subs told me that since the box, and the trunk of the car is carpeted, the box shouldn't move. WRONG! I asked him about drilling holes to keep the box from moving. He said something about that wouldn't be a good idea because of the gas tank. Is it not safe to drill a holes in the trunk?

There are probably a thousand places in the trunk where you can drill without hitting the gas tank. Just use common sense. If you don't have any then I'll go upstairs and get my manual but I think the tank is under the forward portion of the trunk. Let me know if you can't find it.

The gas tank is at the very front of the trunk and almost underneath the rear seat. just screw thew the box down with "L" brackets from any hardware store. I screwed them directly into the cardboard piece sitting over the spare tire. It holds my sub fine and the thing weighs like 40 lbs+

The place where I want to mount the box is all in the back of the trunk. Right by where the box can be accessible from the rear seat opening. I'm going to mount the screws on each side of the box, not directly in the middle. I'm going tomorrow to see if I can find some L brackets. Thanks guys.

scary stuff, but I see it happen quite often.. it's more safety of the car and passengers than not damaging subs..
