Question about speaker sizes...

I am looking to buy Infinity Reference components and coax's....I thought that the speaker size was 6 1/2 , but I went on to Crutchfield and did the what fits my car thingy, and I says that the right size is 5 1/4....Can anyone clarify the sizes for components in the doors, and coaxs in the rear.....

i'm pretty sure they should be 6 1/2(oversized) which is like 6.75 because i just bought eclipse and had to make an adapter because they didn't make that size. mines a 95 but i'm pretty sure it applies until 99.

ur best bet would be to call crutchfield, because what they told me on the phone was diff. than what their catologue said. And what they told me was right. Great customer service too.

The speaker size used to be shown by Crutchfield as 6 1/2 S, where the S stands for an oversized 6 1/2. I replaced all mine (95 SE) with MB Quart 6 1/2 plus put separate tweeters in the little black plastic piece at the front corner of each front door. I just cut holes in these and ran the wires. The sound is great! My logic was that these pieces are quite cheap and if I keep the speakers whenever I sell the Max, I can replace the little black triangles. The speakers sizes are the same for the doors and rear deck.

Good luck!
