Diamond Audio?

1. Are there any places that sell it online?

2. Are the lower end M3 component series any good? Are they worth the $ or can I get something better... and how much do they usually run for?

thanks

Diamond Audio is considered a "specialty brand" in the industry and sold only to "specialty retailers". Diamond Audio does not sell their products on line only at the retail level.

Check around at your local high end shops and take a listen to them.

1. No

2. Anything by DA is good. It all depends how much money you are willing to spend. I will always stick with HEX. Look around at shops for the best deals.

Are you looking for components or subs? I think they just replaced their M3 subs with a new version. The old M3's looked to be pretty high quality for the price. I have never heard the M3 though. I love the HEX. Been using them since 1997. Originally designed and built in Germany. Now built at an undisclosed location, most likely China where labor is cheap. I have seen them listed at a few online dealers but don't know if they are legitamate Diamond products. Where are you?

I was talking about the components.. M5/M6s are too much for me, I can't afford 300$ for as set of speakers. I'd love to get the HEX but hell, they are probably like 500$.. M3s are the low end components, their dealer price is around 130$, there is a place in NYC where you can get a lot of stuff to close to dealer prices, but I haven't found any stores from that area on the list of authorized DA dealers for my area... Either they don't sell them, or they sell some bootleg or remanufactured stuff.. I will check and see..

thanks for the replies

jmax,

What do you think of the Mac Daddy subs? I have 3 MD 10s right now. I heard a some M5 12s about 2 weeks ago and they sound darn good for the money. I guess since I have had DA for several years now, I will always probably stick with them.

I like them but got a pretty good deal on mine. I should have, I paid for them 6-9 months before they shipped from Diamond. But there are so many newer and better speakers available now for the same or less money. One is the Adire Brahma. Nearly twice the linear excursion for about the same money. And the sealed box size is only a fraction larger.

I haven't heard the Brahmas. How much and what are some specs? How reliable is the company's products?

www.adireaudio.com

I have seen nothing but good reviews comparing them to speakers many times the price. They sell direct to the consumer, or through www.ampmanaudio.com

I can not give a SQ opinion yet because I have a couple other projects ahead of my first Brahma sub enclosure construction. But the build quality seems very good. I will probably build a box for a ten first. Then later a box for a twelve. But the twelve I have may be going in a home theater box. Depends on how the ten sounds. I guess you could say that when I hear the ten, I may replace my MacDaddy's with Brahma's. But amplification would be tough for three. Two Brahma's in place of the three MD's would be fairly simple. I still have to think about it all a whole lot. If I can find a good home theater sub amp for a decent price that's most likely the way I will go. As three MacDaddy's are more than loud enough for anything I do.
