Is your box secured?

If it is how is it secured? Last two installs I did years ago where not secured to the trunk. So how, what method did you guys use to secure your box so that it won't fall over or become a flying projectile during a horrible crash.

Re: Is your box secured?

I used velcro on the bottom of the sub box. So far it has not toppled over.

I screwed a piece of wood to the bottom of the trunk underneath the carpet and screwed in 2 "L" brackets that stick out of the carpet and screwed the box to those.

well, I took my car to the shop that did the hookup. The took 2 metal strips and bent them...so one end is screwed into the box, and another one in the car's body. Sorry I couldn't find better words to explain neither have a camera to show pics.

For a simple box what you want to do is what y2max said. It's called backstrap, bend it into an L, then screw the top into the box and the bottom to the car.

OOOPS! Not quite! My box is so heavy, it seems to stay in one spot! Hopefully, I won't get rear-ended.

Thanks for the responses. Hmmm still wondering how I will go about securing the box. One thing I want to avoid is drilling into the trunk but thats not out of the question. I am going to have think about this one.

I refer you back to what I wrote, that is the way to go. Worried about holes? They can be filled later. No one will see it.

my box was also installed buy someone but they did not secure it. What i did was i went to home depot and bought some L shaped brakets. Cost like $1.00. Screw one end into the box and the other end to the trunk. It works for me!

Has anyone thought of some kind of way to make the box easily removable when you might need the trunk space for something? Although a couple of screws for the bracket seems to be easy enough.. just wondering if anyone thought of another way.
I heard of the sub box being screwed to the RSTB in the trunk too sounds cool to me.

I went to Home Depot got some brackets. Bent them in a "L" shape for the side of the box to the floor. Then I bent some in a "U" shape on top of the box to the bottom of the rear deck. Box goes nowhere.
