Odd Ball Suggestions Needed (long)

Ok this dumb but oh well. Long story short, I needed to pick up some connectors and end up stopping by a Boomer McLoud (Mid Level Car Audio Chain) because it was on the way home from work. I usualy go some where else and the people there have been very good to me. Anyway
I had wrote down a list of the different connectors I needed and handed it to the guy at the counter. He goes in back to get me the stuff. Another guy that works there ends up comming in and looks at my list on the counter (While I am in the speaker room) and starts talking **** to the other guy about the stuff I was asking for, not realizing I was the one who made the list. Blah Blah I end up explaining to him why I needed that particular stuff.
He then being 100% serious tells me that the rings I was buying where a waste of time and I should just wrap the wires around the screws. ( I know this gives a better connection in some cases. But the install being clean is also a concern of mine). A little **** talking insues and after I pay for the stuff he starts laughing as he says good luck. I am so ****ed! So my new goal is to blow him away at all their little comps thay hold in the parking lot.

THIS IS WHAT WILL BE IN THE CAR BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK (Most already is)
Pioneer DEH P7200, MB Quart 6X9s in the rear on HU power, MB Quart RSC 216 with Musi Comp X overs up front powered by a Punch 125.2, Two JL 8 W1 in Power Acoustik Tubes (I know, but I like how the tubes look in the trunk) powered by a Punch 125.2 .

I am looking for suggestions on little like $40 a pop things I can do to make this set up better.

I know if I had access to Car Audio Components at cost (well, I actually do) I would have a very good quality system (That also).

Before you show up with 2 8's, check to see what they have... 8" woofers can only do so much...

40$ a pop?

Well by roughly $40 I mean would going from mid level RCAs to high end RCAs make a difference, going from 16 awg speaker wire to 14 or 12?
I think I might invest in a EQ. I know Eights are Eights but i like em
