Weird question about the 2k2 Navi system
I have already checked in the search function, and there have been a couple inquiries into the idea, but I was wondering if anyone has figured it out yet. What i mean is, has anyone figured out how to tap into the navi's vid/audio sources? If so, it would almost seal the deal of me getting a 2k2 max. I am also wondering if the stock navi has anything to do with the HVAC controls or are they totally seperate? Meaning does hte navi display any of the HVAC information?
I am asking about all this because if the display can be tapped into, I will be able to use itas my display for my carpc setup, and rip out the stock tape deck to install my din sized carpc i'm working on. THe 4th gen maxima's dashs work out perfect for the setup I'm looking for, but the 2k2 is oh so sexy and faster
Anyway, I hope you guys haven't given up the hope, I wish I had a 2k2 maxima already to mess with, I'd love to tear it apart and snoop around.
Keep us all posted, I"m sure Kloogy and a few others are still interested in the information for their dvd stuff.
Thanks a bunch, I hope my lurking here doesn't bother you guys. After all my 96 Dodge Intrepid can't hold a candle to a maxima of any year. BUt she gets me from point A to point B with 40 gigs of mp3s, music videos, tv, dvd, divx, gps. So I can't complain to much.
Cheers!

Re: Weird question about the 2k2 Navi system
yes the hvac controls are incorporated into the navi making it touch screen hvac controls (cool feature). I am currently doing research on a system for the car so i have already asked three different installers if tf i can take out that crsppy bose headunit and put in another, but still reataining the voice feature of the navi. All three said NO. They said i can put in an apapter for the steering wheel control however. As far as the dvd player on screen. u need a rgb contoler. With installation they told me 1600 dollars> Id rather buy a laptop.
So you are saying the video can be pulled from the navi screen to use it for another source other than the stock navi/stereo? I can add a switch to let me turn on the stock features to use the hvac controls. Controllers are easy to get, especially RGB ones. WIth that said, I think I may be getting a loaded 6 spd 2k2 maxima
Happy days. Oh and as far as the stock navigation/gps goes, I have an aftermarket navigation/gps system with voice also which I'll just put in place of the stock one, negating the need for the stock woman's voice.
Anyway, once again, thanks for the reply
